Claire Zajdel, is a Gold Medalist in Moves in The Field and competed regionally through the Novice level. She coached figure skating for the past eight years, and began skating at the age of 5. She coached at City Ice Pavilion for four years and now serves the Skating Director.
Chelsea Harris, played Division 1 women’s hockey at Niagara University. She currently coaches the City Ice Pavilion Future Rangers, North Park Hockey program and the Browning Hockey, St. Davids Hockey. She enjoys coaching the hockey fundamentals to children, and adults of all ages and levels.
Michael Esposito, holds a master degree in Social Psychology. He is a Registered Behavioral Technician attaining his Applied Behavioral Analysis certification. Michael trained extensively in RDI (i.e., Relationship Development Intervention). He passed his U.S Figure Skating 8th figure test and loves to share his passion for skating with others. Michael welcomes children and adults of all ages and abilities.
Michael Goslar, grew up playing hockey in Minnesota and hasn’t stopped since. He has over 5 years of coaching experience, focusing on skills and development for skaters of all ages and levels. Michael currently coaches our youth programs at City Ice Pavilion, Skyliners House League, and coaches for two additional local private schools.
Yasmyn Camp, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in business studies from New York University. She is a U.S. Figure Skating gold medalist in Moves in the Field, Silver level Ice Dancer, and skated on “Team Image” for 10 consecutive years from preliminary to seniors levels. Yasmyn also coaches the pre-juvenile synchronized skating team for Figure Skating in Harlem and is a USFSA, Learn to Skate, PSA member, and U.S. Figure Skating registered coach. For the past seven years, Yasmyn has been coaching all levels from beginner to advanced skaters.
Brigitte Altenhaus, is originally from Montreal, Canada and is a U.S. Figure Skating three time National Champion, ISI certified Gold Judge, USFS registered coach, USFS & PSA member, and has been coaching for over a 12 years beginners through USFS Senior level skaters. Her specialties include refining movement and detailing technique, cultivating and empowering a well-rounded skater on the ice and in life. Passion, focus and dedication are some of the ingredients she encourages for a joyous experience and successful growth as a skater and as a foundation and springboard for a fulfilling life! Reaching for the stars in all venues, her vision is to empower all who grace the ice and nurture their growth for years to come.
Shelly Criswell, grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She moved to NYC in 2012 to pursue a career in finance. Figure skating has always been her passion and she competed competitively as an ISI member throughout the tri-state area. She is a member of U.S. Figure Skating, Learn-to-Skate, and the Professional Skaters Association. Shelley has been coaching for over 15 years and enjoys spreading her love of skating to all of her students.
Rachel Sloot, has been coaching figure skating for over 5 years for various levels and diverse skaters of all ages. She has extensive experience in group classes and private lessons, coaching the fundamentals within Learn-to-Skate from Tots to Freestyle, as well as group performances and competition choreography. Originally from Chicago, Rachel has over 18 years of skating experience and is a member of USFSA, PSA and Learn to Skate.
Courtney Gavurnik, earned a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College. She is a U.S. Figure Skating double gold medalist in Moves in the Field and Freestyle and is a USFS registered coach. Courtney also skated on her college synchronized skating team. With 5 years of coaching experience, she enjoys teaching beginners through advanced levels.
Sebastian Arango, has been teaching skating for 18 plus years, working with skaters on a National and International level. He a member of U.S. Figure Skating, Learn to Skate, and the Professional Skaters Association. Beings a professional dancer as well, Sebastian specializes in Choreography, off-ice conditioning, and has 16 years of experience in music editing. His goal for his students is to help them find a sense of self-confidence, determination, and accomplishment. Sebastian sees the sport as a tool to teach these invaluable life lessons.
Vitkoria Chiappa, competed on the Hungarian International Figure Skating Team. She holds three national titles from the Hungarian National Championships and competed in international events such as The Ice Challenge and Coup de Nice, as well as Junior Grand Prix. Upon her departure from competitive figure skating, she joined Disney on Ice presents Princesses and Heroes. Vitkoria earned her BFA in acting and BA in liberal arts majoring in music with a minor in dance from Elon University. At Elon she focused on Dance Movement Theory and its transition to the ice. She strives to push figure skating to its limits, providing skaters with the tools and foundation they need to have a career in the industry. Vitkoria is a member of Professional Skating Association, U.S. Figure Skating, Hungarian Figure Skating Federation and Actors Equity Association.
Sarah Kamenetz, started ice skating when she was 5 years old. She trained at the famous International Skating Center of CT under World and Olympic coaches. Sarah was the Skate School Director from July 2016 through June 2018, and has over 10 years of coaching experience. She is a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, ISI Gold Judge, certified Yoga teacher, U.S. Figure Skating registered coach, and a USFS and PSA member.
Theron James (TJ), has been a professional ice skater both nationally and internationally for 9 years and is a Silver medalist in Freestyle. He began his skating career at the age of 12 after his mother won a raffle from his brother’s middle school auction and joined his first touring ice show in 2009. He has been coaching for the past 12 years and has worked for multiple companies around the world. TJ enjoys giving back to the sport.
Nick Sinchak has been coaching for more than a decade. Nick is a national bronze medalist in ice dance and a former competitor for Team USA. Before retiring from his competitive skating career, he trained full-time with some of the world’s most renowned ice dance coaches across the country. Nick came to New York City to attend Columbia University, where he graduated and has been in New York ever since. Without fail, whenever he’s at our rink he brings his passion for self-improvement and skating fundamentals to all of his classes.
Julia Sipos, is a U.S. Figure Skating double gold medalist in Ice Dance and Moves in the Field. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Hobart and William where she majored in International Relations, Spanish and Hispanic Studies with a minor in Writing. Julia has been coaching for over 5 years. She competed in synchronized skating as a member of Ice Magic, Team Image, and Skyliners over the course of seven years from the pre-juvenile to novice levels.
Viliam Pala is a native of Slovakia, where he played hockey all of his youth, high school and club hockey in college. After graduating from high school, Viliam founded a health youth fitness center in his hometown in an effort to emphasize the importance of physical activities for a healthy development of youth. After his arrival to the USA, he became certified fitness coach with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has now been coaching ice hockey full time for the past 10 years. 6 of them with NY Skyliners. During off season in Summer he coaches skills hockey camps in various cities in the US and Canada.
Patrick Brooks grew up in northern Minnesota and had been skating and playing hockey since he was a young boy. Passionate about the game, he plays whenever he can and loves to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport through coaching kids and adults. In addition to his on-ice work, Patrick teaches elementary school and is earning his Master’s degree in Elementary Education.
